Heatwave continues in the Southeast
While cloud cover made for cooler conditions over much of SA, NSW, Victoria and Tasmania today, the hot airmass that has produced heatwave conditions since New Years Eve still produced well above normal temperatures on the Nullarbor Plain in SA, and on the NSW South Coast, the Victorian East Gippsland Coast and Tasmania's East Coast. Details are below. Total fire bans were widespread, but the only fire of note today was in the Albury NSW suburb of Thurgoona where a scrub fire burnt through 10 hectares of grazing land and threatened nearby army houses.
