The NSW North Coast floods
are covered in this special report.
Widely spread storms brought heavy downpours northwest of Brisbane, and to the west and north of Sydney today. Early morning storms in Queensland's South Coast Curtis region brought Biloela 35mm and Gayndah 50mm in the 6 hours period to 3am, while Mundubera reported 87mm for the day ended 9am, all likely to have fallen in a storm. A band of heavy rain, not apparently associated with thunder, crossed the NSW northern Blue Mountains west of Sydney mid-morning giving around 50mm in just over an hour to Blackheath and Mt Boyce. Storms in the early evening gave Narara, north of Gosford, 64mm in a few hours either side of 6pm. Kangy Angy, a little farther north, reported 110mm for the day to 9am Monday, most likely to have fallen in the storm. Albury reported an afternoon storm with hail, with 15mm falling in the hour to 3pm. |
