The tail of a cold front weakening
on the NSW Mid North Coast brought several hours of heavy rain this
morning. Port Macquarie recorded 59mm at the airport between 3 and
9am, while the town's Hill Street gauge, on the coast, recorded 70mm. Smoky
Cape, 60km to the north, recorded 50mm between 6am and noon.
Storms that developed in an inland trough through Central Western NSW this afternoon caused widespread power outages and some damage in an area from Cowra through Orange to Coonabarabran and west to Narromine. A house was damaged in the village of Dripstone, south of Wellington, while hail turning to ice made conditions unsafe on the Mitchell Highway near Wellington. |
