Cold first two-thirds of December in Melbourne
Hot ahead of squally change in western SA
Melbourne has failed to have a single day of 30 plus maximum temperature during the first 19 days of December. The record for the latest occurrence of a temperature of 30° or more was set in 1856, when it took until 19 December for the temperature to equal or exceed the magic 30. The Melbourne weather record stretches back to 1855.

Maximum temperatures rose 10 to 14° above average along South Australia's West Coast and Eyre Peninsula today ahead of a squally change with late thunderstorms that gave Minnipa a gust of 95km/h. Ceduna's top temperature of 41.5° was 14.3 above.
