Top temperatures were 10° or more above average through the Great Southern and wheatbelt areas of WA today reaching close to the old century at places. Kellerberrin, with a top of 37.2, was 11.7 above the April average. NEWSBITS: Widespread afternoon and evening thunderstorms occurred through NSW, though falls were generally light. However in the lower Hunter Maitland recorded 27mm between 9am and 3pm and Williamtown 23mm between 3pm and 9pm. A waterspout was observed off the coast of Newcastle. Farther south, freshening SE winds behind a weak cool change brought several hours of moderate rain along the NSW South Coast and the Victorian East Gippsland Coast. Gabo Island recorded 31 and Mallacoota 35mm in the 6 hours to 3pm, while Moruya Airport recorded 29mm in the 6 hours to 9pm. |
