NEWSBITS: Moderate overnight rain on E Tas and Vic coasts
NEWSBITS: In a generally uneventful weather day across the continent, the only rain of note fell in orographically favoured parts of the Tasmanian East Coast and Victoria's East Gippsland in easterlies swinging around the underside of a stationary low off the NSW South Coast. Gray, at the top of the Elephant Pass just southeast of St Marys, Tas, always scores well in these situations and recorded 44.4mm in the day ended 9 this morning and a further 31.8 to 9am Saturday morning, each reading being the highest in the nation.
