NEWSBITS: First taste of winter arrives in Tasmania |
NEWSBITS: A front moving through southeastern Australia today introduced the first flush of cooler air to the region for the season, producing light snow on the higher peaks in Tasmania and a substantial lowering of temperatures across Tasmania, Victoria and southern South Australia. The midday temperature atop Mt Wellington behind Hobart was 0.9° with strong to gale force winds, and there were light snow flurries during the day. Brief heavy rain preceded the front as it moved through the Victorian Alps. |
