NEWSBITS: Windy and warm as cold front approaches the SE
NEWSBITS: A strong, complex frontal system approached SA, Victoria and Tasmania today, bringing strong, warm northerly winds ahead of it. Gusts over 100km/h were reported from mountain stations in all three states, with 113km/h the highest speed reported, from both Thredbo Crackenback and Mt Hotham. Maximum temperatures were 8 to 11° above average across much of the western half of NSW, while scattered parts of the state also reported overnight minimum temperature variations of the same magnitude. Much colder air began to surge over western Tasmania and the west coast of Victoria this evening, with small hail and wintry showers reported.
