![]() NEWSBITS: Cold in western NT |
Rain fell over most of the eastern two-thirds of Queensland overnight and today, though falls were generally between 5 and 25mm for the 3 days ending 9am Wednesday. An area of stong middle-atmosphere uplift that developed east of a surface trough through central Queensland this morning gave some heavy falls along the coast, where Lady Elliot Island, 90km NNE of Bundaberg, recorded 73mm between 9am and 3pm. Thick cloud over central and southeastern parts kept daytime temperatures as much as 8 or 9° below normal today. NEWSBITS: Overnight minima were between 8 and 11° below average across a broad swathe of the Northern Territory east of the WA border this morning. Wave Hill station, 250km west of Newcastle Waters, recorded a low of 3.0, 10.2 below average, while 100km farther north Victoria River Downs reported 5.0, 8.9 below. |
