About Australian Weather News

Heat sets records in SW Qld
Much of inland NSW and southwestern Queensland recorded temperatures 10 to 14 above the October average today in a dry northerly airflow ahead of a weak trough. Thargomindah and Cunnamulla both notched up new records, with 39.4 and 37.7° respectively being their highest October maxima in 45 years of computer records. It was dry, too. In an unusual coincidence, both Cunnamulla and Quilpie reported precisely the same temperature and dew point at 3pm -- 37.7 and minus 15.2 -- giving a relative humidity of 3%.
