NEWSBITS: Temperature extremes in the west, centre
NEWSBITS: Top temperatures today showed the seasonal extremes for which spring is noted. Northern and northwestern WA simmered in temperatures up to 12° above the October average, with many centres recording maxima of 40 and above. Carnarvon's 36.1 was 11.8 above average. On the Northern Territory Barkly Tablelands and adjoining parts of western Queensland, cloud kept daytime temperatures up to 11° below the norm.
