"Worst bushfire in 30 years" on NSW North Coast
DROUGHTWATCH: The first water restrictions for Longreach Qld in 10 years

A fire burning in the Kalang Valley west of Bellingen on the NSW North Coast has been described by a Rural Fire Service spokesman as the worst in the area in 30 years. The fire, which has burnt through 3,000ha, joined up with smaller fires to the south and is still burning fiercely, though no propertly losses have been reported. Smaller fies on the North Coast are still burning at Rappville, Pikapene and Coraki in the Casino area.

DROUGHTWATCH

The western Queensland town of Longreach has introduced water restrictions for the first time in nearly a decade as the drought continues to worsen. Ten of the town's 11 weirs are now dry, and the town is down to its main waterhole which has an estimated 6 months' supply.
