Cold morning in W VIC, SE SA

A strong High over central Victoria overnight saw temperatures in the VIC/SA border region plummet to near record levels. Coonawarra's low of -2.4 broke their previous May minimum temperature record in a relatively short 14-year period. Overnight minima in the area were from 6 to 9 below average for May. The strong cold front that moved through the area on Saturday ushered in a cold airmass which is responsible for the strength of the high, and is being assisted by clear calm nights to produce maximal cooling overnight.
