Storms cause damage in VIC, NT

Severe thunderstorms brought damaging heavy rain and wind across parts of central VIC during this afternoon and evening. A roof was lifted off a shed in Bendigo, 20mm fell in 20 minutes at Strathbogie and 15mm in 15 minutes at Myrtleford, while the roadhouse at Carlsruhe, 35km SE of Castlemaine, was flooded. An afternoon thunderstorm microburts in Alice Springs produced winds estimated at 120km/h, uprooting a tree onto two cars.
