QLD, NT, NSW: Cold nights for May continue

Minimum temperatures were again well below normal across a huge part of the continent, in an arc from the NT across most of QLD and down into eastern NSW. Musgrave Station on Cape York Peninsula finally set a new May record low of 10.2 this morning after several near misses over the past few days. Proserpine's minimum of 7.2 and Bowen's 10.5 were 9.0 and 7.6 below normal respectively, significant anomalies for tropical coastal locations. In NSW, the small settlement of Woolbrook, set in a frost hollow near the boundary of the North West Slopes and the Northern Tablelands 40km ENE of Tamworth, recorded a low of -5.5, 8 below normal.
