Gales, light snow in Tasmania
It
was a cooler than normal day across an unusually large proportion of
the continent today. As can be seen from the anomaly map (left) only
the far southwest, and small areas in SA, NSW and Queensland recorded maximum
temperatures just above normal. Equally unusual was the lack of variation
in temperature, with more than half the continent recording top temperatures
between 2 and 4° below average. Frosts began the day on the Queensland
Darling Downs, with Oakey recording an overnight minimum of minus
1, nearly 10 below average.
In Tasmania, gale to storm force winds continued to blow around the south and west coasts and across the highlands. Light snow fell on the Central Plateau overnight.
