When reading these descriptions of today's weather events, please refer to the charts and tables for support and details. The descriptions serve to point out significant events and add information that is not available elsewhere on the page.

QLD, NSW: Rain in the inland and along the coast. There have been scattered useful falls of rain through central and southern inland QLD and NW NSW and heavier falls along the east coast from the NSW Mid North Coast northwards to the central QLD coast. The rain map for the week to 9am Wednesday best shows the distribution of the falls which mostly occurred in the 48 hours to 9am Wednesday. Inland, Fords Bridge (60km NW of Bourke) did best in NSW with 27.0mm to 9 this morning, while in QLD Dunvegan (50km NE of Charleville) recorded 38.0mm, however inland falls were very patchy. Along the coast, there were some heavy falls today (see downpours), particularly in SE QLD and on the NSW far north coast where there were many falls between 25mm and the top of 73.2mm at Cape Moreton in the 24 hours to 9am Wednesday. Maroochydore's 55.0mm during the same period was the station's heaviest June fall in 12 years of records -- nearly half of it, 21.8mm, fell in just 25 minutes to 12.55 on Wednesday morning. Unfortunately, Brisbane's Wivenhoe Dam recorded almost no rain, though falls in the Hinze, Leslie Harrison, Little Nerang and Enoggera dam catchments and around Lake Manchester produced inflows.

SA: Cold and dry in Adelaide. Adelaide's average minimum temperature for the first two-thirds of June has been 4.6C, 4,1 below average and the coldest average for the period on record. The clear skies and high pressure responsible for this feat have also produced the city's twelfth-lowest rainfall in 120 years for the period, with just 10.4mm recorded.
