NE NSW, E QLD: Ex-cyclone brings useful rain

The cloud mass that marks the remains of TC Hervey streamed SE across NE NSW overnight, bringing isolated thunderstorms and rainfall totals of between 25 and 75mm to the NW Slopes and Hunter Valley. Narrabri (Mt Kaputar National Park) recorded 70.0mm, Barraba PO 66.4 and Newcastle Nobbys 71.2 in the 24 hours to 9am, though most fell after midnight. The rain area moved offshore in NSW, but spread across eastern QLD during today, giving some heavy falls that show up in the downpours section below and in the 24 hour totals for Friday. The best falls were on the Central Coast and in the Wide Bay/Burnett, where most totals to 9am Friday were well spread between 50 and 100mm. Yaamba, 30km NW of Rockhampton, fared best with 123mm.
