Newsbits
NSW, VIC: Widespread fog
WA: Squally change brings rain

Widespread fog and low cloud enveloped southern inland NSW and the VIC Northeast and Northern Country this morning as high pressure and light winds moved over the area following recent rain. In some areas the fog lingered into the afternoon, keeping maximum temperatures for the day up to 4C down on average.

A cold front that swept through SW WA late afternoon and evening brought brief moderate pre-frontal rain and strong coastal winds. Mt William, 50km SE of Mandurah, recorded 33.8mm and North Walpole on the South Coast 30.4 for the 24 hours to 9am 4 July, though most of this fell this evening. Some heavy hourly falls around Perth are given in Downpours. Although there were no damaging wind gusts, the southwestern capes recorded strong average winds for the 24 hours to 9am 4 July -- 57.7km/h at Cape Leeuwin and 45.6km/h at Cape Naturaliste.
