Heatwave peters out on NSW Central Coast

The hot airmass that has dominated Australia for the past week was pushed out of the continent today by an advancing cold front. The highest maximum temperatures relative to normal were 33.0° (10.4 above normal) at Norah Head and 32.0 (+8.4) at Gosford on the NSW Central Coast. North of Newcastle, Nelson Head recorded a top of 30.0, it's highest April maximum in a short record of 7 years.

Heavy rain from N QLD Low

A tropical low over Cape York Peninsula has brought wet and windy weather to the Far North QLD Coast. Cooktown Airport recorded 79mm between 6am and 6pm today.
