Northern AUS cold spell ends

Northern AUS cold spell ends

The run of widespread cold nights across northern AUS concluded today, a week after it began. While minimum temperatures were below average across all of QLD and the NT and the northern half of WA, readings this morning showed a general warming trend. The exception was the WA North Kimberley where some places were colder this morning than yesterday. The lowest June temperature recorded in 15 years at Doongan, 125km SSW of Kalumburu, has been 2.0°, yet the station recorded 3.0° both yesterday and this morning. Mount Elizabeth, 200km NNE of Fitzroy Crossing has a June average minimum of 9.8, but its recordings for the week to this morning have been 4.6, 2.3, 2.0, 2.7, 4.0, 3.0 and 1.2.
