Weather events and extremes today

Descriptions of significant weather events are added here when time permits and reliable information is available. This is sometimes well after the event!

The day's significant weather statistics are given below:

Perth today experienced a minimum temperature of 5.0 degrees Celsius at 5.33 am, the lowest minimum temperature for November on record at the official Perth observation site. The previous record for November of 5.6 degrees was recorded on 1 November 1904, however a site change in recent years means that these figures are not strictly comparable.

Other November records around the metropolitan area this morning included Jandakot Airport 0.8 degrees (13 years of record), Pearce 2.8°C (47 years) Perth Airport 3.2°C (60 years) Bickley 4.6°C (10 years) and Swanbourne 7.1°C (10 years).

The lowest minimum temperature for WA was –1.1 degrees Celsius at Wandering. This is the latest date on which a sub-zero temperature has been recorded in WA. The previous record was at Salmon Gums Research Station with –1.1°C on 13 November 1958.

In TAS, BULL BAY (LAURISTON) recorded a maximum temperature of 31.0, equalling its November record in 13 years of record.
